West Hills Roller Coaster -Portland Bicycling Club

West Hills Roller Coaster

Description

This is your opportunity to build strength by mixing some hills into your weekly riding schedule. Come once for a change of pace, or plan to come weekly as you train for the hills in your upcoming event rides. Re-grouping regularly, we start near the intersection of HWY 26 and 217 and roll up and down through the West Hills neighborhoods, visiting Sylvan Hill, the Fairmont Loop, Terwilliger, Council Crest, NW 23rd, Pittock Mansion and Skyline. It is a bunch of fun “ups” that will challenge you, and “downs” that will leave you feeling like a kid again. RIDE DETAILS: Distance: 22.7 miles. Elevation Gain/Loss: 2550 feet. Moderate paced; with all the ups & downs we’ll average around 9-11 mph by the end of the ride. Re-group ride; traffic is generally quite low and we’ll stay together enough that you won’t have to navigate thru all the turns. Ride start is at 9640 SW Park Way, Portland (the west end of the Sunset Highway bike path). Please call Sarah Hill with questions: 503-720-9972
Optional stop for coffee at the mid-point. Please bring nutrition to get you over the hills.
