West Hills Roller Coaster -Portland Bicycling Club

West Hills Roller Coaster

Description

Come build strength or see something new by mixing the West Hills into your riding schedule. Re-grouping regularly, we start near the intersection of HWY 26 and 217 and roll up and down through Sylvan Hill, the Fairmont Loop, Terwilliger, Council Crest, Pittock Mansion and Skyline. It is a bunch of fun “ups” that will challenge you, and “downs” that will leave you feeling like a kid again. RIDE DETAILS: Elevation Gain/Loss: 2500 feet. Moderate paced - with all the ups & downs we’ll average around 9-11 mph by the end of the ride. Traffic is generally quite low and we’ll stay together enough that you won’t have to navigate thru all the turns. Ride start is at 9640 SW Park Way, Portland (the west end of the Sunset Highway bike path). E-bikes are welcome – bring a fully charged battery! Heavy rain, snow or ice cancels the ride.
