Seattle to Portland -Portland Bicycling Club

Seattle to Portland

STP Bike Ride

This 200+ mile bicycle ride, officially the Kaiser Permanente Seattle to Portland Presented by Alaska Airlines, organized by Cascade Bicycle Club in Seattle, is the largest multi-day bicycle event in the Northwest, with up to 8,000 participants riding from Seattle to Portland in one or two days. The 2024 ride will take place on July 13 and 14.

STP Finish Line and Volunteering

Portland Bicycling Club coordinates the Finish Line at the Portland end of the STP route. It is set up at Holladay Park near Lloyd Center. We organize up to 160 volunteers to support the Finish Line and celebration in the park. This is a huge undertaking and the main fundraiser for the club.

Sign up online to volunteer at SignUpGenius.

STP Friday Buses

The Portland Bicycling Club offers transportation for you and your bike from Portland to Seattle. Your bike will be wrapped in moving blankets and loaded into a truck. You will ride in a luxury motor coach and you and your bike will be reunited near the University of Washington dorms. The trucks and buses will be loaded and depart in pairs as each pair fills up. The loading, at the Doubletree Hotel in Portland, is first come first served, and begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The first bus departs as soon as it is full. The loading continues until all bikes and riders are loaded. The last bus leaves at 10:00 a.m.

  • Cost for bus and bike: $100
  • Overnight Parking at the Doubletree Hotel (just Friday or Friday and Saturday):  $45
  • Rider only transportation: $50

You can purchase these services on Cascade’s STP add on web site. Link to be provided late January 2024. For questions about Friday busses, contact Corey Eng at stpfridaybus@portlandbicyclingclub.com.

Bike Only Transport

We also offer bike only transportation on a case by case basis. Because the bikes are not secured at the drop off point, you will either have to meet your bike when the truck unloads them or make arrangements with the Friday Bus Coordinator to have them locked at the drop off point. The cost of this service is $50.
